Basil Hoop – 4″

Out of stock

The herb that makes me feel soooo Italian likely came from India, but you’d be hard pressed to find a nation that doesn’t claim this herb for one dish or another. When planted near asparagus, Basil is extremely effective at attracting ladybugs, which eat small pests. It’s also a good companion for tomatoes and root vegetables, but should NOT be planted next to other herbs like sage.

This piece is backed by felt and took 6 hours to sew.

This collection is inspired by permaculture, otherwise known as companion planting, which ensures a biodiverse garden and maximizes symbiotic relationships. I am a self-taught artist but my work is informed by a Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation Education from NYU and the drive to understand our relationship to the global environment.
